Patient Wellbeing
Bowel Cancer Awareness
The Green Practice are supporters of the Scottish Bowel Screening Programme. The programme aims to invite all males and females between the ages of 50 and 74 years to participate in the screening programme. To participate a patient simply needs to return a testing kit that is sent to their home on their 50th birthday and every 2 years after that.
Should a patient not return a kit, the practice will send a reminder letter that also provides additional information about the screening programme that will hopefully encourage the test kit to be returned.
Bowel Cancer UK have a very good leaflet that brings together the main points of the bowel screening program and this can be viewed or downloaded by clicking here. They also have more comprehensive information throughout their website.
In addition, the Scottish Bowel Screening website has a good selection of information, as well as how to access the confidential helpline should you wish to speak to someone.

Hep C Testing Post Blood Transfusion
After the recent media attention around the Penrose Inquiry Report and the recommendation that all patients who received blood transfusions before 1991 are tested for Hepatitis C, patients may wish to contact the practice.
As of 2nd April 2015, any patient who has had a blood transfusion before 1991 should contact the practice and make an appointment with a GP. After a discussion, the GP will then decide the best course of action.
In the meantime, should anyone wish more information, a variety of sources are available and details are below.
